PAGADUAN

CHANG

FILMMAKER

SCREENWRITER

COMMUNITY EDUCATOR

Keali’iho’omalu means, “the warrior who brings home peace.”

Growing up in the multicultural Bay Area, Solomon learned how to become a multi-hyphenate warrior by joining local organizations including Oakland Kajukenbo Kwoon, Destiny Arts Center, Youth Radio (YR Media) and Tatu Vision. The last of which was the focus of his first documentary production: a half-hour highlighting Tatu Vision’s grassroots model of building community & fostering collective freedom through hip hop arts.

Through UCLA’s Film, Television & Digital Media program, he studied the crafts of filmmaking and comedy writing as a means of flipping the script on how his communities are typically seen. Wielding his wit and his why, he began penning screenplays showcasing the humanity and humor of Filipino and Chinese Hawaiian families like his own.

As his “home” extended to the East Coast, he expanded his work. Teaching political education workshops to cultivate young leaders, and co-creating storytelling initiatives to foreground fellow warriors fighting across interlocking diasporas & movements. With every project and collaboration he’s a part of, Solomon Keali’iho’omalu Pagaduan Chang strives to bring more peace to the communities he calls home.
